I have to admit that I’m guilty of of saying on multiple occasions, “Tennis? I love them! They’re so cute…” It’s a common reaction since it’s hard to sit still and keep a straight face when one of their songs is playing. This reaction is further justified when you find out that their debut album, Cape Dory, is a recount of a sailing excursion the husband and wife duo took together. Romantic, right? Well, as it turns out, sailing is actually terrifying and while they surely have fond memories of the time they spent together, the album is more about their constant fight for survival than it is about holding hands as the sun of another perfect day sets into peaceful, calming waves.
Alaina Moore touches on this and some other misconceptions of the band in her interview with the A.V. Club.
